Strathearn Cider Company
Strathearn Cider Company is based in rural Perthshire. Our journey into the craft cider world began in 2016 and our thanks go to the three Herefordshire craft cider gurus who inspired us in the early days to go for it and set up our cider business in Scotland.
Our cider is made slowly with British apples and where possible we include apples from our local community orchards, such as Comrie Community Orchard. Our Scruffy Dog brand was inspired by our family spaniel and his zeal and love of life and (and relaxation!) and devotion to making people happy.
Our aim is very simple - to have fun making great-tasting, top quality cider using traditional methods. Whether you’ve just climbed a Munro in the Scottish Highlands or a mountain of emails in the office - we don't think you'll find a more refreshing cider.
Our plan to start producing quality craft cider was hatched in spring 2016 and that seed of an idea flourished when we visited some great craft cider-makers in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. We returned home to Perthshire totally inspired and determined to launch our own brand of cider.
We set up Strathearn Cider Company in autumn 2017 and shortly after that George left the Scotch whisky business where he had worked for 14 years.
We're delighted to be working in partnership with a fantastic cider maker in Herefordshire and to be using apples from Perthshire and Fife in our ciders - including from Comrie Community Orchard at Cultybraggan.
We’re delighted to have received support from the Rural Perth & Kinross LEADER programme and our plan is to continue to grow our business and make craft cider at our home in rural Perthshire in the near future. Our thanks go to the LEADER team, Business Gateway and everyone who has helped us and encouraged us to get this far. Your support is very greatly appreciated!
